About Troncones and the MexCalli Surf School

26 01 2010

Hoberto “Beto” Perez-Yañes began surfing when he was eight, taught by his big brother Leo and the entire exuberant surfing clan of his brothers and sisters. Beto now runs the MexCalli surf school in Trocones, and shares his passion for surfing with anyone who is willing to learn.

Along with his two other teaching cohorts, Manuel Cabrera and Edgar Perez, Beto smiles when he says their specialty is, “teaching everybody!” It doesn’t matter if you are young or old, weak or strong, Beto will make sure you get up on a board and enjoy the power and glide of the beautiful Latin waves. He’ll also teach you about ocean currents and conditions, navigating the “crash zone” and all sorts of useful how-to’s.

MexCalli surf school can tailor their hours for any schedule, provide board rentals, accommodate both individual and group lessons and organize custom surf trips. The main breaks around Troncones are Playa Linda, Playa de Troncones, Saladita and The Ranch.
